Today’s Rustic Paneling
So the time has come to remodel your house and you’re not sure what direction you want to take it. Well, have you considered using rustic paneling for your interior? Even if you’ve been stuck with drywall this entire time. There is absolutely no reason that you shouldn’t change it up a little bit, right? What is today’s rustic paneling exactly? Why does it belong in your home? The first thing you need to know is that paneling isn’t common, but soon to be! Most homes have that standard, boring drywall interior. While it works just fine, we’re of the opinion that it’s entirely overdone these days. That being the case, it should be no real surprise that so many people are looking for something different. Something exciting. Are you one of those people?
Installation of Rustic Paneling has Never Been Easier
Let’s be honest, making any change in your home is going to be a bit difficult. With paneling, we’ve definitely made it easier. Our product can provide you with brand new interior paneling to brighten your home. All without the incredibly difficult installation that tends to follow most other products. With interlocking joints and pre-cut paneling, we ensure that most of the work is on our end. You can even install these panels over your existing drywall. The interesting thing about a concept of the fact that drywall actually balances the propensity of the wood. Making wood less susceptible to burning. In other words, installing over drywall will make the room much safer in the event of disaster. Then again, while it does make things a bit safer, it’s still going to require a lot more work on your part.
Barnwood Paneling an Idea?
If you do choose to install barnwood paneling or any other type of rustic material from our high quality selection, at least over drywall, you will need to take several things into consideration. First of all, you’ll have to compensate for a shift in the position of the wall. It would move out by a percentage determined by the thickness of the paneling product. Secondly, that means you will need to move your utility boxes a bit forward. Making sure that they are flush with the wall to facilitate convenience and avoid potential safety hazards. Fortunately, The Wood Workers Shoppe sells a number of accessories from trim to electrical boxes which will help you and your home to properly adjust to this change. Also remember that if you’re installing round a window, you’re going to need to increase the width of the jam, which is definitely doable with our products. The idea is to get the job done without creating a visible seam, and we specialize in creating a congruent looking product.
A Slight Drawback
If you are installing your rustic paneling over top of the drywall, the biggest drawback is going to be the inability to modify the studs beneath to create better framework for the installation. The complication will become more present if you are installing vertically simply because the studs themselves run vertically, and you’ll have trouble nailing some of the boards into position. The general solution has always been to screw horizontal furring strips to the wall, fastening them to the studs, but if you want, you can take the route of using glue, though it is not always desirable. Finding a way to fasten the boards is critical, and we always recommend using the horizontal approach when installing over drywall.
There is little doubt that rustic paneling for interior is a great choice for any home and it won’t be long before you finally have the rustic interior that you’ve always desired – even if that desire only began when you started reading this article. Don’t let your existing, boring interior define you, go for something extraordinary; go for the Wood Workers Shoppe.
