If you have been planning a remodeling project, you may have run through all of the options to make your house look truly unique. Or, perhaps a remodeling project has always been in the back of your mind, but you want to make sure you find a cost-effective way to add value to your home. The home remodeling process can either be an exciting challenge for a fresh interior look, or it can be a huge hassle that sucks up your time and money. An exterior makeover can be daunting, since it’s the first impression that friends, family, and passersby will see. However, interior changes are what affect you and your family the most. By approaching the remodeling process carefully, you will be able to have a new interior design in a short amount of time without breaking the bank. Interior log cabin paneling is both a unique and cost effective way make your remodeling project worth it.

Interior Log Cabin Paneling: Adding Rustic Charm

Your home is designed to reflect your taste. All of the details of the home are there because you added them or you liked it enough to keep it. One of main reasons why our clients choose interior log paneling to spice up their home remodeling project is because it evokes a rural sentiment of home. Original log cabins were built for protection from the elements by the early settlers. Opposed to more stylistically sophisticated colonial homes, the logs helped to retain heat and block out the horrible New England winter chill. These rough log structures had notches that helped the logs stack onto each other with stones set in the corners for reinforcement. Some of the older log cabins had dirt floors rather than a floor covering. While mainly built for function, log cabins proliferated and were modernized to imitate their coziness. Nowadays, log cabin kits and premade log cabin siding helps homeowners build a structurally sound framework, topped with interior log cabin paneling and exterior siding to imitate the full log look inside and out.

Interior Log Paneling

Saving Money During the Remodeling Process

Using full logs is a very expensive and time intensive process. We highly advise against using full logs for building an original home and especially not for a home remodel. Full logs look great, but the wood retains a lot of moisture that cannot be eliminated completely. Moisture in wood causes it to warp and change overtime. However, there are now a lot of log siding options that completely imitate the look of full logs.

Our interior log cabin paneling is ¾” thick in cedar or knotty pine. The knotty pine comes in widths of 4”, 5”, 6” and 8”; the cedar comes 4”, 5”, and 6”. All of the knotty pine paneling widths are available with a prefinished option, and the 6” cedar paneling can come prefinished. There also is a barnwood paneling option that mimics the weathered look of wood taken from aged barns. This paneling comes in widths of 6” and 8” made from pine, but stained with a special dark stain. Buying a product prefinished means you will save time, labor, and finishing costs at home. Your paneling ships to you ready to be nailed up immediately when it arrives. Past clients who were remodeling for the first time loved how easy our prefinished paneling made the remodeling process.
